New Delhi : The government is likely to call an all-party meeting Tuesday in the wake of impasse in parliament over its decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail, Minister of State for Parliament Affairs Harish Rawat said.
“We are in touch with the opposition. There is a possibility of an all-party meeting tomorrow,” Rawat told IANS.
He said the all-party meeting is likely to take place before parliment meets for the day Tuesday. The meeting may also talk about other issues on the agenda in the winter session, including pending legislations, he said.
No major business has been taken up in parliament since Nov 22 when the 23-day winter session began.
Both houses of parliament were adjourned for the day Monday as a united opposition and some key constituents of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) cornered the government on its decision to allow FDI in multi-brand retail trading up to 51 percent.
The government also liberalised policy in single-brand retail trading.
