Islamabad : Saudi Arabia has played an important role in maintaining peace and stability in this region, especially in Afghanistan, said Pakistan Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
Talking to mediapersons after witnessing joint military exercise Al-Samsaam-IV between Pakistan Army and Saudi Land Forces near Jhelum in Pakistani Kashmir, General Kayani said that Saudi Arabia still has a role to play in Afghanistan and in regional security.
To a query, the general said that the army has made all the arrangements to counter terrorist attacks on its territory from Afghanistan and hoped that such kind of attacks would not take place again, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
He said that the army has achieved success against terrorists in Swat, Malakand and Waziristan.
Now, the civil administration should take charge at the areas which have been cleared by Pakistan Army as it cannot stay in any area permanently, he added.
