The India-Bangladesh Enclave Exchange Coordination Committee announced the programme Sep 15 and started a signature campaign to drum up support for the cause, the Daily Star reported Saturday.

The 10-day protest was launched Friday.

A total of 111 Indian enclaves are located in Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram of Bangladesh, while 51 Bangladeshi enclaves lie in Cooch Behar of India’s West Bengal state. The India-Bangladesh border runs 4,095 km.

The protests would include making human chains, signature campaigns and processions, said committee general secretary Golam Mostafa in Dashiar Chhara enclave in Kurigram.

The agreement signed by the two countries during Manmohan Singh’s visit, however, did not stipulate any time frame for its implementation.
