Two arrested from Bihar, Bengal for explosives haul

Kolkata : Two people have been arrested from Bihar and West Bengal for the seizure of a large quantity of explosives by police in Darjeeling district, police said.

“Thirtynine gelatine sticks and 75 detonators kept in a bag were recovered from a 20-year-old youth arrested last night from Naxalabari area,” said Darjeeling police chief Anand Kumar.

On interrogation, the youth, Arjun, said the bag was given to him by his teacher Suresh Bhagat in Bihar’s Kishenganj for delivering to another person.

Bhagat has also been arrested from Kishanganj, Anand Kumar said.

Police were now trying to find out for whom was the consignment of explosives meant, he said.
