Jaipur : The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rajasthan unit would hold protest rallies all over the state Aug 11 highlighting the drawbacks of the state’s Congress government, including frequent hikes in power tariff, party leaders said Thursday.
In a series of protests planned during the campaign named “Congress Bhagao, Desh Bachao (Chase away Congress, save the nation)”, the state unit will organise sit-ins and take out rallies and court arrests.
BJP state president Arun Chaturvedi told IANS the Congress government has miserably failed under the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
“The hike in power tariff up to 18 percent announced Wednesday has made the people in the state suffer. They were already reeling under the rising inflation,” Chaturvedi said.
“The farmers are suffering due to poor administrative management during this drought-like situation. The government had promised to provide electricity for at least eight hours to the farmers, but it did not fulfill its promise. The ruling government is anti-farmer,” he added.
On the protests, Chaturvedi said: “A rally will be taken out from party’s office in Jaipur to the chief minister’s residence. Besides, the party workers will court arrests.”
