New Delhi : The government is aware of “anti-India sentiments in some sections of the Nepalese polity and society”, the Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.
Minister of State for Home M. Ramachandran said Nepal’s government had promised “that it would not allow its territory to be used for any activity against India”.
The minister was asked by member Maheshwar Hazari whether anti-India activities were on the rise in Nepal and if these were sponsored by China.
Ramachandran made no reference to China in his reply and said that India attached the highest importance to relations with Nepal.
He added that there was close cooperation between the two governments on matters of mutual concern and New Delhi was assisting Kathmandu on various development fronts.
