Aligarh: The matter to start B.E. (Integrated) Courses in the University Polytechnic and Women’s Polytechnic of the Aligarh Muslim University was discussed in a Consultative Meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sibghatullah Farooqui.
The Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Principal, University Polytechnic, Principal, Women’s Polytechnic, President, Vice President of AMU Students’ Union and the students of Diploma Engineering participated in the deliberations and decided that the name of the University Polytechnic may be proposed as “University Institute of Technology” tentatively and can be changed as and when required. It will run under the Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology and the Principals of the polytechnics will work under him. As and when polytechnics will become self sufficient there will be a Director instead of Principals.
The Board of Studies will decide the courses. It is decided that if sufficient teachers are not available to teach the B.E. (Evening) Courses alternate ways will be thought of. The teachers of the Polytechnic (Boys & Girls) will submit an undertaking that they teach new B.E. (Modular) Course till new faculty is not created and will arrange Practical in the evening till the infrastructure is not developed.
A notification may be issued for the teachers of the Women’s Polytechnic and University Polytechnic who are interested to teach the B.E. (Integrated) Courses to be started in both the Polytechnics from session 2012-2013, over and above their own teaching load with the condition that out of their load of teaching, combined load will be allocated by the concerned Board of Studies for Diploma and B.E. (Integrated). They are requested to give their written consent to the concerned Principal till 21.02.2012.
Principals of the Polytechnics may prepare the course contents within 15 days and place the same before the concerned Board of Studies for its recommendations. The name of the teacher should also be mentioned against each course.
A meeting of the Academic Council may be convened on 03.03.2012 to consider the recommendations of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology which may be arranged before 2-3 days of Academic Council.
