London : An expensive study has found British parliamentarians complaining the most about their dirty marble-lined toilets in the Commons.

The state of the Palace of Westminster’s toilets was the biggest reason for whinging in the annual survey of its facilities, The Sun reported.

Over a third of politicians complained that they were not up to the mark in a poll which costs taxpayers about 28,000 pounds (about $42,500) a year. The study, conducted by a private firm, may infuriate Britons struggling to make ends meet.

It found that almost a quarter of parliamentarians were not satisfied with the House’s exclusive and heavily-subsidised dining rooms and restaurants. A further 17 percent complained that their offices were not cleaned properly.

The House of Commons Survey of Services 2012 states: “Although satisfaction with general cleanliness was fairly high, substantial proportions were dissatisfied with the cleaning of their office and with the cleanliness of toilets.”

The poll has been carried out for the last three years at a total cost of 83,000 pounds (around $127,000).
