New Delhi : No case of cheating in the 2G scam is made out against the Essar Group, it contended in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court here Wednesday.
Essar Group promoters’ counsel and senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi told Special CBI judge O.P. Saini that all the facts were made available to government.
The government had examined every detail of the firm before issuing a licence and did not find any wrongdoing, the counsel said.
He added that government found there is no irregularity and illegality in giving a licence to the firm.
Earlier, the Essar Group had denied charges that its promoters were the real investors and beneficiaries of spectrum and licences awarded to Loop by using it as a front in 2008.
The hearing will continue Thursday.
