New Delhi : Expecting the demand for power in the capital to cross 5,400 megawatts during the peak of summer, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has started checking and improving its supply network.
The exercise is aimed at improving consumer safety and involves replacement of worn-out service cables and sprucing up the local network, said BRPL chief executive Gopal Saxena Friday.
“Several resident welfare associations and consumers suggested us to undertake such an exercise. Special care is being taken to ensure that consumers are not inconvenienced. We are dividing an area in many small clusters while undertaking the exercise,” he said.
The exercise, being carried out between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, is expected to take a few weeks with the BRPL network spread over 750 square km.
Saxena said the exercise has been completed at Harswaroop Colony, Khirki Extension, Panchsheel Vihar (Malviya Nagar), Iswar Colony (Ayaa Nagar), Nizamudin Basti (Nizamudin), Harikesh Nagar (Nehru Place) and Beriwala Nagar (Janakpuri), Mahindra Bagh, Jivan Park and Prajapati Colony (Vikaspuri).
