Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Friday asked policemen to pull up their socks and warned them that his government wanted a peaceful state with a spruced-up law and order scenario.
Addressing senior police officials from all over the state at the Tilak Hall Secretariat, Yadav said his government will not compromise on law and order in the state.
“The people of Uttar Pradesh have handed over the reins of the state to my government through a historic mandate as they hope we will bring about prosperity and development. It is hence imperative on us that we work towards a progressive, better and a new Uttar Pradesh,” Yadav said.
Asking officials to work freely and fairly, Akhilesh Yadav said the state government will ensure that everyone got justice from the system and that justice was not restricted to a select group, community, religion or caste.
The chief minister also called for special attention to be paid to subversive activities. “Security agencies should stand watchful against the nefarious designs of terrorists. Security on the porous Indo-Nepal border will be heightened,” Yadav said.
The chief minister also asked officials of Uttar Pradesh Police to ensure complete communal harmony in the state and said the district police chiefs and the administrative establishment would ensure that no on toward incident took place.
He directed officials to take the toughest action if some elements tried to provoke sentiments and incite riots.
He warned that his government would not tolerate any involvement of policemen in criminal and anti-social activities.
