Over 120,000 Syrian refugees in Turkey

Moscow : There are over 120,000 Syrian refugees living in Turkey due to the ongoing conflict in that country.

According to Turkish prime minister’s press service, a total of about 169,000 refugees crossed into Turkey since the outbreak of fighting in Syria. Almost 49,000 have since returned to their homes and 594 are undergoing treatment at Turkish hospitals.

There are 13 refugee camps in Turkey, where refugees receive medical assistance, food, security, schooling, and banking and postal services, according to the government’s emergency situations department.

The Bashar al-Assad regime has been locked in a bloody conflict with anti-government rebel forces since March 2011.

According to UN estimates, around 35,000 people have been killed since the violence began.
