“There has been a firing incident from Bamungaon area in the district. A woman was injured as a group of armed men attacked them with weapons,” said Inspector General of Police G.P. Singh. He added that investigations are on to trace the culprits.

Singh, however, refused to name any particular militant outfit for the attack.

In continued violence since Saturday last week, six people were killed in separate incidents of violence in Kokrajhar and Baksa districts. Suspected militants shot dead a man identified as Nirisan Basumatary at Telipara under Gosaigaon subdivision Thursday.

Earlier Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi indicated the anti-dialogue faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants was involved in the violence in Kokrajhar.
