London : Popular social networking site Facebook has broken the record for one billion active users, according to its founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg, who co-founded Facebook at Harvard University in 2004 and is now its chief executive, said: “Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.”
Facebook reached one billion active users last month as is up 45 million users since June, Daily Express reported.
According to the company’s website, the California-based Facebook hit the billion milestone Sep 14.
This figure was added to the 600million mobile users on the site.
The company also said it has seen 1.13 trillion “likes,” or endorsements by users, since the company launched the feature in February 2009.
