The 20th Law Commission will identify laws which are in harmony with economic globalisation and explore suitable measures for redressal of citizens’ grievances related to law, said the sources.

According to an official release, the 20th Law Commission will also examine laws which affect the poor and carry out audit for socio-economic legislations. It will also take measures to harness the law and legal process in the service of the poor, eliminate delays and allow speedy clearance of arrears of cases and reduction in costs.

The panel will also examine existing laws with a view to promote gender equality and study the impact of globalisation on food security and unemployment and recommend measures for the protection of the interests of the marginalised.

The Law Commission of India is a non-statutory body constituted by the government. It was originally constituted in 1955 and is reconstituted every three years.
