After a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election management and coordination committee here, party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh had made progress despite “discrimination” by the union government.

Naqvi accused Congress of practicing “negative politics” and alleged that the party had sought to create hurdles in the development of two states.

The BJP currently rules both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

“Good governance and development will be important issues in the elections,” Naqvi said.

He said scams and corruption were also issues “for which the Congress will have to answer”.

Naqvi said BJP workers in the states had been trained about their responsibilities and the party’s preparations for the polls were in full swing.

He said senior BJP leaders, including L.K. Advani, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Murli Manohar Joshi and Nitin Gadkari, will campaign in the two states.
