“The (Congress-led) UPA (United Progressive Alliance) regime has become anti-people. The way Mamata Banerjee has shown courage to withdraw her support from this government is commendable. We have come here to tell her that the people of Jharkhand and our party is with her,” Marandi told reporters here.

JVM-P, which has two Lok Sabha members, announced withdrawal of its support to the UPA government on Monday over its decision to permit FDI in multi-brand retail.

“We just want to assure Mamatadi that the issues she has raised are correct and we will stand by her in protesting against these anti-people policies both inside and outside parliament,” said Marandi.

Banerjee, whose party has 19 MPs in the Lok Sabha, parted ways with the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government last month. She had given the clarion call of moving a no-confidence motion against the central government.
