Kolkata: A Maoist guerrilla, wanted in a number of cases including murder, was arrested in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Saturday, police said.
“Man Sing Murmu alias Sujoy, who was wanted in a number of incidents of violence in West Bengal and Odisha, was arrested by a joint team of security forces Saturday,” Jhargram Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh said here.
“He is a member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist)’s Ranjan Munda squad and is an expert in using Insas and .303 rifles,” Ghosh added.
Munda, a top Maoist leader responsible for subversive activities in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa, was arrested early last month.
Murmur will be produced in court Sunday and the Odisha and Jharkhand police are likely to interrogate him, police said.
