Notably, NCP president Pawar, who is also union Agriculture Minister, was in Raipur to lay the foundation stone of the proposed National Institute of Biotic Stress Management and to inaugurate the national agricultural science fair. He met Tarachand Sahu at the VIP Guesthouse and discussed the issue for half an hour. The meeting was also attended by NCP state chief Nobel Verma and Nationalist Youth Congress state executive president Satish Jaggi.

Verma told IANS: “The NCP supremo agreed to fight assembly elections in Chhattisgarh in alliance with the Swabhiman Manch and has asked Sahu to prepare a formula in this regard after discussing the matter with other like-minded parties. This time, the NCP has decided to fight assembly polls in association with smaller parties rather than its old ally,” he added.

Confirming the agreement reached with the NCP, Tarachand Sahu, spearheading the move to form a third front in the state, said Pawar’s go-ahead has given a boost to the move to form a viable alternative in the state. “Now, the Swabhiman Manch, the Gondwana Gantantra Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party, the proposed party of former union minister Arvind Netam along with the NCP will form the Third Front in Chhattisgarh,” he said.
