“They should answer the questions they are being asked. Adapting a negative attitude and launching an attack against the television channel which did the sting operation is bad. We condemn the government’s attitude,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters.

“Even parliament approved the sting operations when it accepted them as proof in the cash-for-votes scandal. If the media has raised some questions, the government should answer,” Hussain said.

“We demand an impartial probe into the allegations, and all responsible should be punished,” he added.

Hussain also denied charges by India Against Corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal that the BJP was not speaking on the issues.

“We have been raising issues of corruption against the government, whether it is 2G or coal scam,” Hussain said.

According to television channel Aaj Tak’s report, the union social welfare and empowerment ministry had granted Rs.71.50 lakh to the Khurshids’ NGO, Zakir Hussain memorial trust, for distributing tricycles and hearing aids to the disabled in 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The television channel and Kejriwal have alleged financial misappropriation by the Khurshids in running the trust.
