BJP members stay away from JPC meeting

New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday said its members had “stayed away” from the joint parliamentary committee on the 2G spectrum as the party’s demand for summoning Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had not been conceded.

BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said it was important for the prime minister and finance minister to appear before the panel as the two were among the “main people” in the 2G spectrum controversy.

“I urge the Congress not to sabotage every inquiry… It is important to have the finance minister and prime minister to appear,” she said.
