AMU faculty to represent India in SAARC Conference in Sri Lanka

Aligarh: Dr. Waseem Raja, Department of History, Aligarh Muslim University will represent India in SAARC Conference to be held at Sigriya, Sri Lanka on the theme of Traditional Knowledge and Cultural Expression in South Asia.

This is for the second time that Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India has nominated Dr. Raja for the SAARC Conference.

The representatives of various SAARC countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Maldives, Bhutan etc. will participate in the conference and present more than 40 papers highlighting the various aspects of traditional knowledge.

Dr. Raja said that the conference will focus on highlighting issues that are pertinent for the conservation and development of traditional and cultural knowledge.

Dr. Raja would also present a paper on the “Migration of the East Indians to far off colonies during the British Colonial Era”. He will discuss the salient features of his project and provide a detailed report on its progress.
