Dec 16 gang rape convicts want polygraph test in robbery case

    New Delhi : Two of the four convicts, sentenced to death in the Dec 16 gang rape case, Thursday filed an application in a court here seeking permission for undergoing polygraph test in the trial of a robbery case against them.

    The plea was filed before Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash, who has posted the matter for Jan 10, 2014 for consideration.

    Akshay Thakur and Vinay Sharma told the court that the whole prosecution story was “baseless” as there was no public witness in this case.

    Both of them are facing trial for allegedly beating up and robbing carpenter Ram Adhar, before raping and assaulting the 23-year-old girl in a moving bus Dec 16, 2012.

    They requested court to allow them to undergo lie detection test.

    Beside the two, other accused Mukesh and Pawan Gupta are facing trial in the robbery case.
