Police warns Gau Raksha militia; evolves new way to keep both communities in win-win situation

    Hyderabad: City police has up their vigil on the run up to Eid ul Azha (Bakreid) to deter any communal tensions as was occurred the previous year.

    After stern protest from Muslim community over the violent assaults of Gau Raksha private militias, police openly warned them against taking law into their hands.

    Cyberabad Commissionerate police, whose jurisdiction covers almost all the suburban points of Hyderabad, where the most number of violent assaults on cattle traders occur, called a meeting with city Guashala federation.

    Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand presided over the meeting attended by the DCP’s, ACP’s, transportation commissioner, veterinary officer, Animal husbandry officer, and the members of Gau Raksha and Gaushala federation.

    Police commissioner warned the self-appointed Gua Raksha members from interfering in the police duty and taking law and order into their hands. C.V. Anand asked Gau Raksha federation to pass on the information of any illegal cattle transport and then should leave the subsequent action to police, which will be taken in accordance to the law. He again reiterated that if Gau Raksha members interfere in the police duty severe action will be taken against them.

    When police requested Gaushala federation to raise their issues, federation accused police for delaying in registration of complaints, they demanded acknowledgements over the complaints file by the federation on which police agreed.

    Commissioner of police reviewing the arrangements of Durga festival and the subsequent Bakreid, reminded Gau Raksha members that their action is resulting in communal tensions and law and order problems which won’t be tolerated.

    Meanwhile as the growing cases of violent attacks on cattle transporters continues, Muslim religious leaders has decided to give a representation to chief minister and state top police officers. In the consultation meeting called by wakf board chairman which was attended by the members of the all the different Muslim organizations and NGO’s including Jamat-e-Islami, Ahle Haddis, Ahle Sunnat Jamat, Jamaitul Ulema and Qureshi community, has appealed Muslims to restrain from butchering cows as it is illegal according to local law, they suggested cattle traders in this Bakried season should transport only those animals which are allowed to be slaughtered by the rules.

    One police inspector who manage the station at the entrance border of the city, on the condition of anonymity told TCN that police is going an extra hand to maintain law and order during this year Bakreid season, as many fringe groups are adamant in creating communal tension in the view of elections which are just around the corner.

    Police inspector said the higher authorities has given them orders for marinating competent authority certificate which according to AP Cow slaughter prohibition act is a must for the transportation and slaughter of other animals like bull, Ox and male calf.

    He told TCN that police stations at suburban points of the city where the most clashes occur between Gau Raksha Sangh and cattle traders are arranging veterinary doctor and the certificate. In a case vehicle is being caught with big animals, cows will be separated from other animals and will be handed over to Gaushala federation.

    The other animals will be inspected by the veterinary doctor on the spot and accordingly competent authority certificate will be issued to authenticate the slaughter of those other animals. Thus in this way police is walking on the tight rope to keep in good mood both the community to deter any untoward situation during this festive season.
