Pune: Stereotypes about Muslims abound and in this age of terror, corporate media competes with each other to perpetuate the myth about Muslim youth and terrorism. “It is very important to break those stereotypes,” says Sameer Khan, a playwright who has written a number of plays on Muslim issues.

Sameer Khan has written and directed a short film “I will shoot them” that challenges the fear that all Muslims are terrorists. The 6-minute long film was released today on YouTube.

Talking to TwoCircles.net, Sameer Khan who lives in Pune said that the idea for the movie came a few months ago and was shot within a day.

The movie is inspired from a news story of few years ago where a Muslim man was removed from the plane after a co-passenger got suspicious of him.

There has been a dearth of challenges to this stereotypes and this short-movie is a welcome beginning for dealing with a major issue facing Muslims.

“This is my debut film yet I would love to make longer films surely but there are budget constrains. I made this movie from my own pocket but I can surely and I would love to make long and short movies in future if I get the financial support,” said Sameer Khan who can be reached at twitter @SamKhan999.
