Children at Al Qamar Academy celebrate Haj

    Chennai: Students at Al Qamar Academy learned about Haj in an activity based way. The boys dressed up in Ihraam – two unstitched white cloths, and the girls in abaayas.

    They leaned how the Hajis spend the first day of Haj in Mina and the next day in Arafat in tents. Chanting the talbiya the children crowded into two temporary “tents”. Later the children collected stones in the playground. The high point of the activity throwing stones in imitation of the Hajis.



    The Haj pilgrimage is one of the pillars of Islam and millions of Muslims congregate at Makkah in Saudi Arabia once a year to perform this ritual.
