Prof Suraiyya Hussain’s autobiography released

Aligarh: “The bond of Aligarh grows stronger when an Alig lives abroad and cultural values and ethos imbibed during stay at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) always keeps one in good stead,” noted author and former chairperson, Department of Urdu, Prof Suraiyya Hussain as she released her autobiography on Monday.

Syed Shahid Mehdi, former Vice Chancellor and ex-vice president of Indian Council for Cultural Relations released the autobiography – Aab-e-Rud-e-Ganga – at the inaugural ceremony of a one-day national seminar on ‘Cultural Development and Development of Culture between India and Iran’ today.

In her autobiography, she narrated a moving tale of her stay at Aligarh, Paris, Norway, Iran, Turkey, Italy, UK and USA.

Prof Suraiyya Hussain, who now lives in the USA, has published several books and she is the first Urdu scholar to complete a PhD thesis on noted orientalist, Garcian De Tassy from Paris in 1961, the release added.
