Indo-Pak academics in Jamia on human rights in South Asia

New Delhi: The Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies & Department of Tourism, Hotel, Hospitality & Heritage Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia are going to jointly organize a one-day International Seminar on “Human Rights in South Asia”.

Kamla Bhasin, Renowned Feminist and General Trainer, Co-Chair of the Worldwide Network, Peace Women across the Globe shall deliver the Inaugural Address in the Seminar. Tarannum Riyaz, Prolific Writer in Urdu will read from her novel on Kashmir – “Barf Aasha Parindey”.

Sheema Kirmani, Classical Dancer, Choreographer and Theatre Practitioner, who formed the “Tehrik-e-Niswan”, a Cultural Action Group working for women’s development through culture and theatre shall also address the guests and audiences in her Special Address.

The Seminar will include two technical sessions and invited Talks by the Panellists from India and Pakistan. Several renowned academics, activists and journalists are participating in the programme.

The programme is scheduled to be held on February 19, 2014 at 10.30 AM in Seminar Room of Department of Tourism, Hotel, Hospitality & Heritage Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia.
