Ghaziabad : AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday questioned Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung’s letter to the president over inviting the BJP to form the government in Delhi. He retierated “fresh elections” were the only solution.
Kejriwal was referring to a report submitted to President Pranab Mukherjee by Jung Sep 5 seeking the president’s permission to invite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the government in Delhi.
“How is it possible to form the government without an election? None of the parties have a clear majority. Only fresh elections are the solution,” Kejriwal told media persons here.
The Delhi assembly has been in suspended animation since February 2014 after Kejriwal quit as chief minister.
He said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will approach the Election Commission and seek polls.
“There is a need for fresh elections in the national capital. We will approach the Election Commission for this. Without fresh elections, it is not possible for any political party to form the government,” he said.
He also asked why was the BJP “scared” of elections in Delhi.
“…Why is the BJP scared of fresh elections if they are so confident of winning. It is important for us to stop them from indulging in manipulative politics,” Kejriwal added.
