Foundation for mega food park laid in Bihar

New Delhi: Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Friday laid the foundation stone of a mega food park in Bihar’s Rohtas district, saying it will create employment opportunities in the state.

“Mega food park scheme is being implemented in the country to give a major boost to the food processing sector and to facilitate the creation of modern infrastructure for food processing,” Badal said in a statement here.

“The food park scheme aims at reducing wastage of agriculture produce at each stage of supply chain with particular focus on fruits and vegetables. Three such parks have been sanctioned for Bihar in Khagaria, Rohtas and Buxar districts.”

The mega food park will be set up at a cost of Rs.117.2 crore in 85 acres.

Badal said the food park at Dehri-on-sone in Rohtas will go a long way in contributing to the development of food processing sector in the region and create immense opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment in the state.
