New Delhi: Due to the complaints of technical glitches applying for scholarships via National Scholarship Portal,, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has decided to extend the deadline to apply from August 31st to October 15th.
Dr.Najma Heptulla, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs said that the extension will be applicable in respect of fresh applications and the benefit will be extended to all the States/ Union Territories. She informed that the Ministry will issue necessary orders soon in this regard.
The pre-matric scholarship is awarded for studies in India in a government or private school from class I to class X. It is awarded to those minority students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.
Earlier this month the Ministry has extended the date of submission of applications for the Maulana Azad National Fellowship. The Ministry also permitted one time chance for minority students with rejected claims of 2014- 15 to edit and correct their bank details. Edit facility is available on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) till September 30, 2015.
