New Delhi : The Narendra Modi government is committed to making India “a truly green country” while balancing its growth imperative and environment safety, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday.
In view of the prime minister’s emphasis on scaling up the use of alternate renewable sources, “India is balancing its development imperative with concern for environment,” Goyal said at the 15th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit here.
He said all organs of the government, including the bureaucracy and the ministries, were working as a “team” to make India a global hub for green energy.
“All of us – the environment minister, the railway ministry that is encouraging the installment of solar panels on train stations’ rooftops, the urban development ministry with stipulation for stringent building codes – are working in tandem … to make India the world’s capital of renewable energy.”
“We want to make renewable energy a grand success. We want to ensure that rivers are clean and ecological damage is reversed,” he added.
