New Delhi : The Delhi High Court has directed the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice chancellor to consider a representation of elderly residents who have been denied entry into the campus for morning walk since the sedition controversy broke out in February.
Justice Manmohan declined any interim relief to senior citizen, Yudhishtir Sharma, who had sought direction that senior citizens be allowed to enter the campus to resume their morning walk, which they have been doing since 1989.
Asking the vice chancellor to consider the representation of Sharma and dispose it within four weeks, the judge said: “I have to look at your safety also. I don’t want you to get beaten up.
“It’s a volatile situation at the moment (in the campus).”
Sharma said that without any formal notice or order, citizens who used to go to the campus for a morning walk have been denied entry since February 10.
