Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government on Monday announced it would bear all expenses of study and boarding of three meritorious poor students who recently cracked all India entrance examinations.
“I congratulate them for achieving such feat despite financial hurdles. The state government will bear the expenses incurred towards study and boarding during their course period,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
He also felicitated and gave laptops to Narayan Mallik from Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district who cracked the prestigious AIIMS entrance and Rajanikant Nayak and Kailash Chandra Bhakta who cleared the IIT-JEE examination this year. Patnaik also wished them the best for their future.
Mallik secured 13th position in the AIIMS entrance in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, while Nayak of Mayurbhanj district secured all-India ST rank of 245 in the IIT-JEE.
Bhakta of Nabarangpur district bagged a rank of 1,114 among the tribal candidates.
Thanking the state government for the support, Mallik said he want to be a neurosurgery specialist in future.
The tribal boy made it a point to pursue his dreams of becoming a doctor after his father’s death due to brain tumour a year ago. The teen was orphaned last year after his father’s death and his mother’s death three years ago.
