Aligarh : A team of doctors at Center of Cardiology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University have successfully conducted the first ever procedure of device closure of Patient Ductus Arterious (PDA).

The process was done on a four-year-old child. The team of doctors was headed by Professor Asif Hasan (Director, Centre of Cardiology) and included Dr Shaad Abqari, Dr M Rafi Anwar and Dr Malik M Azharuddin.

PDA is a small vessel, which normally closes after birth but in certain cases it may remain open and lead to increased blood supply to lungs. The consequences may result in recurrent pneumonia and congestive heart failure.
