When I was younger me and my friends used go to these apple orchards we had near our house and pluck some fruits and eat under the shade, without telling our parents. And then we used to even eat fresh almonds from the trees.” says Basit , 23, who works in a small eatery stall in Srinagar.

“Now, there are no orchards here and in the shop, all the workers do iftaar together. Earlier ramzan would fall in winters and it was easier; in summers it becomes really difficult with weather in Kashmir becoming hotter during the day.”
