“You look just like my grand daughter, she is upstairs. All of the residents of this area buy milk from me, it’s pure. And during Ramazan the sale of Milk increases a bit because we drink “Babribyol” with milk (Kashmiri for Basil Seeds) but today’s children do not drink that. And now that Ramadan falls in summers, it is very important for our health,” says Jana Begum who has been selling milk and curd for more than 25 years now.
“We should read more Quran in this holy month and I always tell my younger grand children to keep fast, no matter if they can’t for the whole month, they should at least fast on Fridays. We have to start from somewhere.”
