Lucknow, (IANS): Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said he won’t allow the BJP to “remote control” Uttar Pradesh in the event of a hung assembly, hinting at possible alliances.
Akhilesh Yadav told the BBC Hindi that he was confident of the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance winning the staggered assembly election.
Asked if he would align with the BSP if there was a splintered verdict, he said he would “not allow Uttar Pradesh to be run by remote control by the BJP”.
About aligning with BSP chief Mayawati, he said: “I address the leader of the BSP with a respectable name (bua) and would not like to say anything beyond this as of now.”
Akhilesh Yadav’s comments came even as exit polls on Thursday indicated a hung assembly in Uttar Pradesh.
