Aligarh: The Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University and SOCH…Beyond the Imagination, a social organization of AMU students organized an Orientation-cum-Workshop on the topic “Professional Social Work and Role of NGOs in Community Development”.
Lalit Kumar, ACM II was chief guest of the occasion while Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairperson, Department of Social Work graced the program as Guest of Honour.
Sapan Kay Cee, Omar S. Peerzada, AMU PRO, Saad Hameed TPO General, Qurratul Ain Ali, Sadaf Jafri, Zeeshan Ahmad, Assistant PRO and Mohd Uzair were among the panelists.
Lalit Kumar, ACM II said that real nationalism is service to humanity and society. We, the people of India, should join hands in nation building.
Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairman, Dept of Social Work said that to run an NGO one needs cooperation of people from different profession who are expert in their field. He added that we should move forward with positive approach. He appreciated the efforts made by SOCH and promised all kind of support.
AMU Public Relations Officer, Omar Saleem Peerzada appreciated the work of the organization and assured for all possible help from his department. He said education without service to humanity is waste and we can make a big change in the society if we work as a team.
Addressing on the occasion, Saad Hameed said that it was important to diferentiate between charity and NGO. He highlighted several ways for adding professionalism in NGO culture. Sapan Kay Cee said that we always need skilled people with vision and mission who can bring revolutionary changes in the society.
Qurrat Aein Ali conducted the inaugural session while Mohd Shariq presented Vote of thanks.
Yusra Aziz Khan, a pass out of Department of Social Work, AMU played an important role in organizing the workshop and in opening of Literacy Centers and Skill Development Centers run by SOCH.
