Malappuram: In a bid to strengthen communal harmony in Tirurangadi, a group of Muslim leaders visited Hindu temples on Wednesday.
The visit was organised by Muslim Youth League (MYL) as part of their three-month long religious harmony campaign, in the backdrop of the recent incidents which allegedly caused a divide among different communities of the region. Faisal, a resident of Kodinhi which comes under Tirurangadi Taluka had converted to Islam months before he was murdered by RSS goons in November 2016. As part of this campaign, Muslims and Hindus had dined together recently on the occasion of Onam.
The visit began from Padinhirad temple in Nannambra and the team also visited Poozhikal Tharavadu which is a historically significant ancestral Hindu centre in the region. The team of leaders interacted with the elder members of the house.
Following this, the team also visited Kannanathalli Shiva temple and Nannabra Vishnu temple, which are two prominent worship places of Hindu community in the region. The local residents and temple committees accorded a rousing reception to the Muslim leaders.
MYL state president Munavvarali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the harmony meet organised at Nannambra Vishnu temple.
The office bearers of different temples in the region and religious leaders also attended the function. Former minister and Muslim league leader P K Abdurabb, Sayed Fakrudheen Ahsani Thangal, state president of Ithihadu Shabbanul Mujahidheen (ISM) A I Abdul Majeed Salahi, state secretary of solidarity youth movement V M Safir and state president of Dubai KMCC P K Anwar Naha were the chief guests at the meet.
