Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind expresses satisfaction over Bokaro lynching verdict as ten get life imprisonment

Maulana Mahmood Madani, the general secretary at ​Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind​, has expressed satisfaction and welcomed the court’s decision into lynching case from Bokaro, Jharkhand. A press statement from JUH called the verdict “a ray of hope containing hateful atmosphere in the country”.

Ansari on April 4, 2017. Ansari was accused of stealing a child before being beaten in Narra Village which comes under Chandrapura Police Station.

Madani further said, “​​For the ​past few years, Muslims and Dalit communitiesnhave been facing ​episodes of mob-lynching with the state and district administration colluding with the anti-social elements.​”

​”In several parts of the country, these fringe elements have done so with the impression that they are above the law and they do not have any remorse for their shameful activities​,” Madani said in the press statement.

Additional session judge Gulam Haider also slapped a fine of Rs 14,000 on each of the convicted individuals. Kishore Dasundi, Chandan Dasaundi, Kishore Kumar Baranwal, Chottu Koyri, Ramkumar Koyri, Manoj Turi, Sagar Turi, Jitender Thakur, Sonu Turi and Jitender Raja​k are the names of the individuals who are going to face the verdict.

​According to the police, the ten accused initiated the attack on Ansari while several villagers joined them. Rati Pandit, the husband of the village head, has also been accused in the case but the police are yet to file a charge sheet against him. ​The police​ ​had ​lodged FIRs against 11 persons in​ the case​ under sections 147, 148, 323, 324, 325, 452, 354(b), 302 read with 149 of IPC. ​
Maulana Madani​ expressed hope that this verdict would discourage them and would teach them a lesson.

Maulana Madani also demanded that the Chief Minister of Jharkhand announce adequate financial compensation to the family members who lost their dear one and ensure that such incidents shall not be repeated in future.
