As a kid I remember, after a long day of fasting, all food items would be kept on the Dastarkhān ( a traditional tablecloth which is spread on the ground, floor, or table and is used as a sanitary surface for food). With everything in front of our eyes, we would be eagerly waiting to break the fast,” says Yasir Hussain Shariff on the important lesson of patience that Ramadan teaches us.

Yasir, 30, is an entrepreneur based in Bangalore. “The first few days are a little difficult, but after a few days of fasting, I feel more energetic and healthier in body and mind.”
