The results were so haphazard that brilliant students failed in the subjects they always topped/ excelled. Some students who appeared for the exam were marked as absent while others were given zero marks or one or two marks.

Many parents and students shocked over the results have staged protests against the Board demanding reevaluation of the answer sheets. The parents and students are joined by activists and politicians from the opposition parties who are demanding the removal of Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy.

The board in turn have said that the contract of conducting the exams and processing the results was awarded to a private firm named Globarena Technologies Pvt Ltd. It was the job of the firm to process the data for admissions, seat allotments, center allotment and result processing.

While it is not clear whether the blunder has been committed by the TSBIE or the private firm, a NGO has gone ahead and filed a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) for reevaluation of the answer sheets and also asked for a probe into the lapses and demanded suitable compensation to the families of the students who ended their lives because of the erroneous results.

A student in Mancherial, one of the districts of Telangana state who was a topper got zero for one of the subjects. This news was covered in the district newspapers. And immediately the officials of the Intermediate education board conducted a re-verification and gave her 99 marks.

But all students were not so lucky. This jumbling up of the results resulted in suicides of more than 15 students across the state who depressed over the results ended their lives.

And many students have been applying for re-evaluation of their answer sheets but again the website of the board is not working forcing the students to go the office of the board to apply in person. But the officials of the TSBIE are not allowing the students in the office saying only online applications are allowed.

The Intermediate Education board has announced dates for supplementary exams for students who have failed in the month of May. The exams will start from 16th May and conclude on 31st May 2019 including the practical exams.
