BJP’s C P Singh, who is the state urban development minister asked congress MLA Irfan Ansari to say Jai Shri Ram as they were both standing outside the Jharkhand assembly.
What started in a lighter vein turned into a banter between the two and the video went viral and was even aired on national television. “Ek baar zor se Jai Shri Ram boliye” he is heard saying to Ansari in the video.
In reply Ansari showed him the red sacred thread tied ‘Mauli’ around his wrist to indicate that he was not anti-Hindu as the ‘Mauli’ is generally tied by Hindus to ward off evil. But the BJP Minister insisted saying, ‘your ancestor is Ram and not Babur or Taimur Lang’.
And soon the two were seen getting into argument with the later saying that the need of the hour is employment, infrastructure, sanitation, electricity and that there is no need of defaming the name of Lord Ram.
Jharkhand is also the place where last month a youth was mob lynched and forced to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The youth Tabrez Ansari, 24, succumbed to the injuries and died, leaving behind a young widow.
Two weeks ago, the Hindi daily Dainik Jagran- Jharkhand edition had also tried to malign Muslims by spreading fake news that Muslims had lynched a juvenile thief.
Around 49 celebrities have also written to the Prime Minister expressing their concern over the lynchings and the forceful chanting of Jai Shri Ram wherein the perpetrators force the victims to chant Jai shri Ram.
There is a outrage amongst the people about how hailing Lord Ram has become a slogan to be feared and to spread hatred.
