Coaching for to-be-lawyers from Muslim community in Telangana due to increased demand for Muslim lawyers

TCN News

Awami Insaaf Movement, an NGO, based in Hyderabad working on issues related to Muslims, are offering coaching for potential candidates to appear for the entrance exam of Law courses called ‘LAWCET’.

The ‘ LAWCET – 2019’ coaching classes will be held on weekends for the convenience of students who might be working. The exam LAWCET-2019 will be held in the third week of May 2019 and applications for the entrance test have already begun.

These coaching classes have been started to address the anomaly of lack of adequate number of Muslim lawyers in the field especially women lawyers.

The interesting feature of these coaching classes is that every candidate appearing for Lawcet can be assured that s/he is going to get guaranteed admission in a law college whether it is a 3 year course or a 5 course.  And if s/he does not get admission in a law college the coaching fee will be refunded.

“India has app. 1 lawyer for every 1000 people. However, this percentage falls to an abysmal 1 Muslim lawyer for every 1,00,000 people”,  says the General Secretary of Awami Insaf Movement in their brochure. “The community needs lawyers to defend them, to fight for them and to support them with legal advice when needed, which is why we have started these coaching classes for Muslim candidates in Telangana State” .

There are even scholarships available from Govt. & MFC for the candidates who cannot afford the fees of the law course, which the organisation will help them access. Minimum qualification for 5YDC is Intermediate (10+2) & Degree (any discipline, min. 45%) for 3YDC in LLB.

A Law graduate can also work in a corporate house, a law firm, a financial institution, FMCGs (fast moving consumer goods companies).
Others careers a law graduate can opt are Legal Analyst, Legal Advisor, Document Drafting Lawyer, Legal Journalist, Social Work Lawyer, Academician, Human Rights Lawyer, Environmental Lawyer, Labour and Employment Lawyer, Intellectual Property Lawyer, Cyber Lawyer to name some.

In addition to these, law graduates still have an option of choosing the following conventional careers in law:

Litigation: This is the traditional career path for a law graduate. If a law graduate wishes to practice law in courts, it is essential for them to qualify a Bar exam before they join a Court of Law. One may choose to specialize in particular fields such as family law, criminal law, constitutional law, taxation law, etc.

Judicial Services: The State Judicial Services Examination is safe and sound option for those who wish to pursue a stable government career.

ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE:

As per various fatwas available, Working as a lawyer is not haraam in and of itself, because it is not judging according to something other than that which Allah has revealed, rather it is acting as a person’s deputy or representative in cases of dispute, which is a permissible kind of deputation or representation.

The coaching fee is Rs.5,500/- only and there are limited seats available. The classes start from 1st week of April.

If you are interested in pursuing Law as a career, Awami Insaf Movement is offering LAWCET Coaching with a “guaranteed seat in LLB or your money-back” offer.
