New Delhi : The Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) Tuesday recommended the establishment of a federal agency to investigate terrorist acts in the country.
“Tough anti-terror laws are required. We are of the view that a federal agency is required to investigate terrorist offences,” ARC chairperson M. Veerappa Moily said while releasing its eighth report here.
“We have recommended comprehensive anti-terror legislation,” he added.
Apart from recommending that special fast track courts be set up for trying terrorism-related cases, the commission also said that no person accused of an offence punishable under the National Security Act (NSA) should be released on bail.
The ARC had also recommended that measures be taken to block the flow of funds for financing terrorist activities, Moily said.
