Over 92 kg heroin seized in southeastern Turkey

Ankara : Turkish police seized 92.548 kilograms of heroin in southeastern Turkey on Saturday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

The police stopped a truck on the Silk Road in Yuksekova town of Hakkari province and found the heroin in 180 packets in the vehicle, according to the report.

It added that the police detained the driver of the truck.

Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in western Europe.
