Pakistan PM Golani to atend CGI Asia meeting in Hong Kong on Dec 2-3

Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will leave for Hong Kong on Sunday on a five‑day official visit to attend the Asia meeting of Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

The CGI meeting, being held on Dec 2‑3, will provide an opportunity to the Asia’s influential leaders to join hands in solving the region’s most pressing issues.

The meeting will focus on three primary areas of discussion including education, energy and climate change and public health.

Former US President Bill Clinton, the founder of CGI will engage a distinguished group of leaders for panel discussion and interactive working sessions to examine specific challenges confronting the region.

Gilani will address the opening plenary session on “Balancing Growth, Sustainability, and Equity”, and discuss the need for adopting new models of sustainable development.

Other prominent personalities who are expected to attend the CGI meeting are UN Secretary General Ban Ki‑moon, Philippines President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Clinton.

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Donald Tsang and with other world leaders on the sidelines of the CGI moot.

Special Assistant to PM Shahnaz Wazir Ali will speak on the “Next Generation Philanthropy” and discuss its more systematic and broader scope.

AT CGI meeting, the Asian business and government leaders will discuss the priorities that countries and regions should balance in order to strengthen equity and stability in the context of growth and globalization.

President Clinton established the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005 to turn ideas into action and to help the world move beyond the current state of globalization to a more integrated global community of shared benefits, responsibilities, and values.

By gathering world leaders from a variety of backgrounds, CGI creates a unique opportunity to channel the capacities of individuals and organizations to realize change.
