US Secretary of State arrives New Delhi Wednesday

New Delhi : In the context of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai that had targeted innocent civilians including tourists from all parts of the world, the US Secretary of State, Ms Condoleezza Rice is visiting New Delhi on December 3, 2008.

Rice will be meeting Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and is likely to meet Home Minister and National Security Advisor, said an official release issued here today.

Both President Bush and Secretary Rice have been in telephonic contact with Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee since November 27, and have offered any assistance that India may need.

Bush had spoken with PM and, reiterating the commitment of the United States to stand in solidarity with the people of India in working together against terrorism, indicated that he would be asking Secretary Rice to visit India.
