Tokyo : An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale rocked southern Japan’s Okinawa prefecture early Tuesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the tremor which was felt at 9.02 a.m. (0002GMT) and no tsunami warning has been issued.
The epicentre of the quake was shallow in the seabed that is northwest to the main island of Okinawa.
